The flamboyant owner of this garden wanted somewhere exotic and exciting in which to spend her precious 'down-time'. Having previously been used to travelling the globe, her time had become restricted when she decided to look after her elderly father. Unable to leave the house for long, it was important that she could step outside and feel she had gone somewhere else.

Key Features

Hard landscaping
Decking was the natural choice to set off this tropical haven. Juxtaposing the decking paths and platforms with 'Celtic plum' slate chips creates an exciting and colourful walkway through the exotics, and is also very low maintenance.

Bold planting
The key to this garden was in the brave use of planting. There are a surprisingly large number of more unusual tender palms and exotics which, in the right spot, will grow happily in our native climate. They also provide a bold and architectural back drop to the herbaceous planting.
